Carbon dioxide, cocarboxylase, citrovorum factor, and coenzyme A as essential growth factors for a saprophytic treponeme (S-69).

چکیده
A chemically defined medium was described in a previous paper (1) which, when supplemented with crystallized serum albumin, permitted sustained growth of the Reiter treponeme. When an attempt was made to cultivate other saprophytic strains of Treponema pallidurn on this medium, a number failed to grow. One of these strains, S-69,’ could be cultivated if the synthetic medium were supplemented with small amounts of brewers’ thioglycolate medium and whole blood. As will be here shown, the whole blood supplement was replaceable by CO2 and cocarboxylase, and the thioglycolate mixture by sodium pyruvate, citrovorum factor, and coenzyme A. These five substances, added to the chemically defined Reiter medium, support the growth of the S-69 treponeme.

Some factors influencing carbon dioxide production by Leuconostoc citrovorum.
This study was undertaken to determine whether Leuconostoc citrovorum plays a role in carbon dioxide production in milk. The ability of L. citrovorum strains to produce gas was studied by two methods. A qualitative method, in which an agar plug was forced up the neck of a volumetric flask, measured gas visually. This method demonstrated that 0.25% yeast extract, in a milk medium at 30 C, stimul...
متن کاملCofactors of the phosphoroclastic reaction of Clostridium butyricum.
The degradation of pyruvate, in the presence of phosphate, to acetate, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen by cell-free extracts of Clostridium butylicum was described by Koepsell and Johnson (1). Later acetyl phosphate, the labile precursor of the acetate, was shown to be produced (2, 3), and phosphotransacetylase was shown to be present in the cell-free extracts (4). This reaction is, at least, supe...
متن کاملMeasurement and Analysis of Green Energy Economy Indicators in Iran (Measurement of Carbon Dioxide Emission and its Elasticity)
Achieving sustainable economic growth is one of the most important goals of countries' economic programs and policies in the current era. Along with economic growth, consumption of energy rises. Since fossil fuels provide a major share of the world's energy, increased fuel consumption is an inevitable feature of economic growth. Continuation of this trend increases greenhouse gas emmissions, n...
متن کاملExergy and Energy Analysis of Effective Utilization of Carbon Dioxide in the Gas-to-Methanol Process
Two process models are used to convert carbon dioxide into methanol. These processes have been extended and improved using Aspen Plus simulator software. Both processes are found in the CO2 correction system. In this machine, the desired synthesis gas is produced in a flexible configuration. At the same time, the conversion of CO2 to hydrogen via a copper-based catalyst ha...
متن کاملEconomic and Environmental Factors Determining the Amount of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the MENA Countries
Abstract: The gradual warming of the earth and its negative environmental and economic impacts contributed to pay attention to sustainable development considerably. Since climate change is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, countries are seeking to prevent the rapid growth of emissions to reduce global climate change. Accordingly, and considering the importance of the sub...
